Keeping Rabbits Out of the GardenTutorialThe most effective method to keep rabbits out of your garden is to construct a two foot high fence around the vegetable garden with chicken wire. This fence should be planted several inches in the ground to prevent the rabbit from digging under the fence and should not have holes big enough for the rabbit to squeeze through. Spraying vinegar around a vegetable garden is a common method to keep rabbits (and dogs) out, as is sprinking red pepper flakes or chile peppers. One method use commonly is to soak vinegar in cotton balls and hang those around the garden. Reapplication by drops or spraying the cotton balls every couple of days is required. Hardware and gardening stores often sell pet urine or a pet urine substitute which is effective in keeping rabbits out of your garden. This can be costly through as reapplication is required frequently. Human hair sprinkled around a garden has also been shown to be effective in keeping rabbits out of the garden. by jreis on Sunday, May 15, 2005
