Finding the Right Computer for Me

Finding the right computer for your specific needs can be a challenge. If you keep in mind that you’re purchasing the computer for yourself and that you should know what you need, the process becomes a bit easier.

Tutorial

Finding the right computer is probably one of the most daunting tasks around, especially for those people who have little or no computer experience. But with the technology available now, finding a great computer at an awesome price is not really that difficult. Keep a few things in mind before you go shopping and get ready to get connected.

A few years ago, finding a bad deal on a personal computer was easy for those who didn’t really know computers, and there was plenty to know. The amount of RAM, ROM modem speed and other technical terms became an issue simply because you weren’t sure what was most necessary. It was easy to make a mistake and find out that you couldn’t store even a fraction of the information you needed.

Today, the majority of computers have ample space on the hard drive for anything you want to do. You can install programs, save documents and store pictures and still have space available. Most computers now come with sound cards and great video graphics, but you should compare those on the computer you are considering. Upgradable motherboard (as opposed to an integrated board that can’t be upgraded), processor and modem speeds and the number of USB ports are all things to consider when choosing the best computer for you.

Finally, you have to decide whether to go with an McIntosh Computer or an IBM (or IBM compatible) computer. Aesthetic value may not be enough to make the decision, but that can certainly play a role in the computer you select.

The more appropriate questions regarding the kind of computer that’s best for your needs today include the kinds of software that are standard on the computer and the extra “bells and whistles” that are not yet standard on all computers. Writable CD Roms, stereo speakers, flat screen monitors.
