Peeling off a bumper sticker

Peeling off a bumper sticker is – at best – a chore. There are a few tricks you can try to help make the process less likely to damager your car’s paint.

Tutorial

You’re probably going to have a real problem peeling off a bumper sticker. Bumper stickers are made with a very strong adhesive for a good reason. Otherwise, the bumper sticker that you intended to keep for as long as you have your car will wind up peeling off on its own.

But what’s a great advantage for keeping a bumper sticker on your car is also a great problem when you’re ready to get it off. Part of the answer to this question lies in the placement of the bumper sticker. Whether it’s located on the bumper itself or on some part of the car, you’ll have to be very careful not to peel paint from your vehicle. Remember that most bumpers are chrome plated – not solid chrome. Some are even painted to match the paint job of the car. Most of the chrome plating is fairly solid though some is very thin and either the chrome or the paint will peel easily. This is the first problem you’ll face as you try to peel a bumper sticker off your car.

You should probably start at the corner of a bumper sticker when you’re trying to peel the bumper sticker off your car. If the sticker begins to peel easily, continue to pull the sticker off slowly in a fluid motion. If you stop for a moment, you can easily find that the adhesive has become more solid once it connected with the air. If you have problems peeling it from one corner, try another.

A hair dryer could melt the adhesive enough to allow you to peel the bumper sticker from your car. Remember that using any kind of glue removers or chemicals could damage your paint or chrome.
