How do I fix a run in my stockings?

Stopping a hole in your stockings when it is small can be fast and easy. The most popular trick is clear fingernail polish.

Tutorial

Having a run in your stockings before it’s time to go back home can be extremely irritating. First of all, it’s nice when you know that you look your best, and having a senseless flaw like this is disheartening. Plus, you know that the run will be huge by the time you take them off.

When you see that you have snagged your stockings, you should tend to it as soon as you can. This snag will run up your leg, and fast. Clear fingernail polish is one of the fastest and easiest ways to stop a run in its tracks. Because of the way that fingernail polish hardens, it basically allows the fabric to strengthen without making a hard spot. This will stop the fabric from moving and pulling further.  And because it is clear, it doesn’t show.  This little trick will keep your legs looking great and free of runs.

While this little trick can be really helpful, you must catch it quick. If you let it go too far, you won’t be able to strengthen the fabric enough to make a difference.

Clear fingernail polish can be found at almost every drugstore, retail store, and even some grocery store and more. Finding a bottle will not be a problem, and it is a very portable item. Don’t let a run get out of hand and embarrass or annoy you. Be prepared.

Antoher method some people swear by is freezing the pantyhose before you wear them the first time. Although there's no scientfic proof that this helps, some people say panty hose don't snag nearly as easily. Remember to let them thaw (and dry) completely before you put them on or even attempt to straighten them - frozen material can often break and  you don't want broken stockings any more than you want snagged ones.
