Take a Screenshot of the Windows Screen

Learn how to take a screenshot of the Windows screen or the active window.

Tutorial

You can use the PrintScreen (PrtScr on some keyboards) key on your keyboard to take a screenshot of the current Windows screen.

Some versions of Windows allows you to use Alt+PrintScreen to take a snapshot of the active window. For example, if you were in Microsoft Word and press PrintScreen, it would capture the entire screen - including the taskbar and all of the windows. If you opened a Print dialog box and just wanted to capture it, you could press Alt+PrintScreen and only capture the active window.

Whichever way you capture a screenshot, it is recorded in the clipboard, letting you paste it in any application.
